The Association of American Friends
The Association of American Friends of the Jewish Museum of Greece (AFJMG) was founded in 1982 by Dimitris Molfetas for the purpose of supporting and maintaining the newly established Jewish Museum of Greece (JMG). The growing range of JMG activities over the years is an indicator of the remarkable increase in funds for the support of the institution. AFJMG remains committed to contributing to raising these necessary funds to enable the JMG to continue its essential work.
Based in New York City, AFJMG remains a volunteer non-profit organization with no paid staff. Over the past four decades, AFJMG has also evolved into a hub of Greek Jewish activity in the United States and today is an effective voice and platform for Greek Jews in New York and the United States. The AFJMG team maintains key relationships with key stakeholders in both Greek and Jewish institutions in the United States, as well as universities and other educational organizations.
Today, the Jewish Museum of Greece and AFJMG have a symbiotic relationship with a common goal of attracting new members and raising awareness. AFJMG continues to fund a wide range of activities in the U.S. that showcase the great work being done by the Jewish Museum in Athens and highlight the history, culture and ongoing contributions of Jewish communities in Greece and abroad.
