From January to April 2008, at the Benrubi Art Gallery the photographic exhibition of the internationally renowned photographer Franka Hörnschemeyer entitled Peenemünde was presented and curated by Achilleas Tzonis. The bombs that hit many European cities were manufactured at the Military Experimental Center in Peenemünde. Its operation was based on the forced labor of 60,000 concentration camp prisoners of war, among them 20,000 Jews, who died under the worst conditions in less than a year.In her photographs, Franka Homsemeyer makes evident the importance of spatial structures and their change over time as well as the complexity of the history of the specific place.
